Iran among world's top 10 mining countries
(Minews) - A senior Iranian official said here that Iran is among ten top countries in the world in terms of owning mines.
Deputy for excavations in the Geological Survey of Iran, Behrouz Borna, highlighted the important role mine sectors could play in enhancing employment in the country and said focusing on excavations in mines could generate wealth.
He said development of mines will lead to reducing unemployment in the country.
Noting that 12.8 billion dollars are annually spent worldwide on mines excavations, he further regretted that this issue fails to receive due attention in Iran.
Saying that his organization is fairly young compared with its counterparts in the world, he highlighted that Geological Survey of Iran ranks eighth in the international list of top ones.
